Vintage Official Girl Scout Compass, Model No. 11-358 - Manufactured by Taylor Instruments, Rochester NY and made in the USA, Dated 6-1957. The manufacturing cycle for this product was 1937 - 1941 and was not offered during World War II, issued again in the spring of 1945 - 1964. This Green Compass is made with a featherlike case of Bakelite and has an aluminum dial stamped with the GS trefoil insignia and 16 points of the compass. There is an inner rim marked at every 5 degrees for greater accuracy. The revolving needle is mounted on a jeweled pivot and furnished with a locking device. Compass needles should always be locked when not in use. An item similar to this can be found at the Vintage Girl Scout Museum. This item is in pristine condition with minimal signs of wear.
